emptiness is a sign of purposelessness.

it's been a while since i took a step back and reflected on my life as of now. i seem to be running after a train which is forever running ahead of me. "no time, no time" is my favourite word of the day and i go into this brooding mood of how life is unfair and how i wish things were different.

then i read an entry on my friend's blog.

someone said to me yesterday,
i would love to have your life.
you have a good life.
you got to study what you liked in the university,
you did well enough,
you got a well-paying job
that has reasonable working hours
and doesn't demand that much of you,
you are doing something you like,
you have a steady long-term boyfriend,
you come from a good family background,
you have no debts to pay,
you dance well and perform, you can write,
you go to the gym twice a weekand
there isn't anything wrong with your looks,
what more could you ask for?
i would love to have your life.
it made me stop for a while, and say in my head,
i should be extremely grateful.
and ashamed.
of my human nature indulging in
never ending ever lasting wants.
i am blessed.
i can only hopethat
i will prove to be deserving and that i will never grow
blind and unkind.
then i sit and wonder to myself.
where is my life heading to?
why do i have such incessent wants, needs and desires.
can't i just be as contented as i was?
